Ecopsychology is an interdisciplinary field that studies the relationship between human psychology and the natural environment. This approach argues that connection with nature has profound and therapeutic effects on psychological well-being. Spending time in nature provides numerous psychological benefits, such as reducing stress, improving mood, restoring focus, and enhancing creativity. Nature-based therapeutic practices, such as "forest bathing" (shinrin-yoku), are officially recognized stress reduction methods in Japan. These practices encourage individuals to spend time in nature with mindful and sensory awareness. Research shows that time spent in nature lowers cortisol levels, strengthens the immune system, and improves overall psychological well-being. Simple strategies can be developed to integrate connection with nature into daily life. Regular park visits, growing houseplants, nature walks, or even simply observing natural scenery from a window can provide psychological benefits. Nature serves as a powerful antidote to the negative effects of stressful modern life. This connection with nature is important not only for individual well-being but also for environmental sustainability.
